Elementum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting personal and territorial initiatives that strengthen collective autonomy and the capacity of individuals and collectives to act, create, and thrive together. We create programs, resources, and spaces where people can develop the practical, creative, and reflective capacities needed to navigate the challenges of contemporary life.
Through initiatives such as Luz Negra, G UNIT CREW and our programs in Reiki, Astrology, Tarot, Herbology, and Gastroecology, we bring together art, education, research, ecology, and practices of care. Our work supports individuals and communities in cultivating knowledge, imagination, mutual support, and the ability to act, adapt, and thrive under changing conditions. Elementum was founded on the belief that autonomy is not something individuals achieve alone. It grows through relationships, shared knowledge, creative practices, access to resources, and the collective capacity to respond to uncertainty, adversity, and change. We understand capacity ( well-being) not as a private achievement but as a condition sustained through territories, institutions, and forms and practices of mutual support. Our mission is to help build the infrastructures that make this possible.
We work at the intersection of art, education, research, and care because the challenges people face rarely fit neatly within a single field. Economic insecurity, social isolation, environmental disruption, political polarization, and emotional exhaustion require approaches that combine practical knowledge, creativity, critical reflection, and collective action. One of our core initiatives is Luz Negra (Blacklight), a program dedicated to exploring care as a practice of autonomy. Through study groups, workshops, publications, gatherings, and community-based activities, Luz Negra supports participants in developing the capacities needed to face difficult conditions, support one another, and strengthen collective life. The program approaches care not as a private service but as a shared resource that can help individuals and communities cultivate greater stability, confidence, solidarity, and agency.
Through the Undercommons School, Elementum supports artistic residencies, performances, public programs, collaborative research, and the development of a living archive. The school serves as a platform for exchange, creation, and collective inquiry, helping connect people, practices, and communities across different territories and disciplines.Elementum also develops educational programs and publications focused on Reiki, Astrology, Tarot, Herbology, and Gastroecology. We approach these practices as tools for reflection, orientation, care, nourishment, and self-understanding. Rather than treating them as isolated disciplines, we explore how they can contribute to broader conversations about well-being, attention, ecological interdependence, creativity, and collective life. Alongside these programs, we produce publications, manuals, research projects, digital resources, and community-based initiatives designed to make knowledge more accessible and strengthen networks of collaboration. We work with artists, researchers, educators, practitioners, collectives, and organizations committed to building more caring, equitable, and sustainable forms of life.
At its core, Elementum is dedicated to helping people and territories develop the capacity to care, decide, create, organize, and act together. We believe that autonomy grows through shared practice, that care is a public resource, and that culture, knowledge, imagination, and mutual support are essential foundations for collective well-being.By creating spaces where these capacities can be cultivated and shared, Elementum seeks to contribute to more resilient, democratic, and life-affirming futures.
