ATELIER ELEMENTUM
Espaço Luz Negra
Atelier Elementum / Espaço Luz Negra has been established in downtown Rio de Janeiro as a space for artistic creation, collective inquiry, education, and experimentation. Its inaugural year—spanning from the spring of 2026 to the winter of 2027—will feature a program dedicated to cultivating attention, the perception of deep implicancy, radical imagination, and collective composition.
The schedule includes intensive four-hour workshops and short 16-hour courses on Tarot and Reiki. In the autumn of 2027, training programs in Gastroecology and Astrology will be added, expanding the scope of inquiry to the relationships between body, environment, food, imagination, and existence.
Throughout the year, we will also host the Echo Seminar — an intensive two-day gathering dedicated to the practice of Tarot Echo, led by Denise Ferreira da Silva and Valentina Desideri — and the Seminar on Interiority, led by Denise Ferreira da Silva. The latter focuses on questions of interiority—critiqued from the perspective of Blackness — and covers themes such as exhaustion, implication, and infinity as a description of existence.
The program also includes Escola A Continuidade do Gesto no Espaço (School for The Continuity of Gesture in Space), a residency program for invited artists and activists that fosters an environment of shared living, research, and experimentation at the intersection of artistic practice, critical thought, and collaborative work. A collaboration between Denise Ferreira da Silva and visual artist Iagor Peres, this project will investigate the relationships between gesture, matter, space, memory, and transformation, articulating visual practices, philosophical reflection, and collective experimentation.
Atelier Elementum represents a new phase in the artistic practice developed by Denise Ferreira da Silva in collaboration with Valentina Desideri. Just as the Poethical Readings were reconfigured by the Sensing Salon, and the latter by the Echo Tarot deck, Elementum emerges as yet another transformation along this trajectory. The Luz Negra course is also part of this constellation of practices, serving as a continuous re-imagining of the artistic, philosophical, and collective inquiries pursued over recent years.
More than just a training center, Atelier Elementum aims to be a living laboratory for experimenting with new ways of perceiving, learning, imagining, and inhabiting the world in common.
