ABOUT
Elementum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting personal and territorial initiatives that strengthen collective autonomy and the capacity of individuals and collectives to act, create, and thrive together. We create programs, resources, and spaces where people can develop the practical, creative, and reflective capacities needed to navigate the challenges of contemporary life.
Through initiatives such as Luz Negra, G UNIT CREW and our programs in Reiki, Astrology, Tarot, Herbology, and Gastroecology, we bring together art, education, research, ecology, culinary, and practices of care. We work at their intersection because the challenges people face rarely fit neatly within a single field. Economic precarity, social and environmental devastagion, political polarization, and psychical (emotional and espiritual) exhaustion require approaches that combine practical knowledge, creativity, critical reflection, and collective mobilization. Our work supports individuals and communities in cultivating knowledge, imagination, mutual support, and the ability to act, adapt, and thrive under changing conditions..
Our mission is to help build the infrastructures that make this possible through studying, gathering people, cultivating capacity and presenting work.
One of our core initiatives is Luz Negra (Black Light), a program dedicated to exploring care as a practice of autonomy. Through study groups, workshops, publications, gatherings, and community-based activities, Luz Negra supports participants in developing the capacities needed to face difficult conditions, support one another, and strengthen collective life. The program approaches care not as a private service but as a shared resource that can help individuals and communities cultivate greater stability, confidence, solidarity, and agency.
Another initiative is G-Unit Crew, a running group founded in January 2026 in Vila Aliança, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. G-Unit Crew was born from the initiative of five friends who found in running a way to improve their health and quality of life and to encourage healthier habits within the community. Within a few months, the project established itself as one of the largest running movements in the region, attracting more than 180 participants in a single event. Through weekly meetups counting with an average of over 90 runners per session, we promote health, inclusion, social integration, and the strengthening of community bonds.
Amongst the gathering initiative yet to be organize is the Poethical Praxis study program: a 6-month study program that will gather 10 artists, scholars, educators, and activists of all ages and across Brazil, who are engaged in or developing projects that confront and refuse ongoing practices of colonial, racial, cisheteropatriarchal subjugation. The ten participants will receive individual mentorships, participate in intensive in-persons gatherings, montlhy online workshops and study group sessions, presenting their projects in a closing public event.

In order to create an economic and psychic infrastructure to support those working on the frontlines, Elementum functions as a platform offering treatments and readings provided by our practicioners in Reiki, Astrology, Tarot, Herbology, and Gastroecology, all trained through the Curso Luz Negra. We work with these practices because we find them helpful in the task of cultivating a different sensibility, one that is not premised on violence. We also find them helpful as practices that cna probvide a source of income and financial autonomy to our practioners and their activities in the territories.
At its core, Elementum is dedicated to collaborate with people and territories in actualizing the capacity to care, decide, create, organize, and act together. We believe that autonomy is shared practice, that care is a collective task, and that art, study, intuition, imagination, and mutual support are essential to foster autonomy and democracy in a way that attends to human and more-than-human existence.
By creating spaces where these capacities can be cultivated and shared, Elementum seeks to contribute to more resilient, democratic, and life-affirming futures.
Elementum develops educational programs and publications focused on Reiki, Astrology, Tarot, Herbology, and Gastroecology, as well as art, poetry and theory. We approach these practices as tools for reflection, orientation, care, nourishment, and self-understanding. Rather than treating them as isolated disciplines, we explore how they can contribute to broader conversations about well-being, attention, implication, planetary (social and ecological) connection, creativity, and collectivity.
Alongside these programs, we produce a wide range of publications, manuals, research projects, digital resources, and community-based initiatives designed to make knowledge more accessible and strengthen networks of collaboration. We work with artists, researchers, educators, practitioners, collectives, and organizations committed to building more caring, equitable, and sustainable forms of life.

Elementum supports and organizes artistic residencies, performances, public programs, collaborative research, and the development of a living archive. In collaboration with national and international partners such as the online platform EhChO.org and the New York based program More-Than-Perfect, it creates a platform for exchange, creation, and collective inquiry, helping connect people, practices, and communities across different territories and disciplines.
